This community again mourns the passing of a pioneer in the death of Mrs. T. I. Thompson, a resident of Burleene township for 27 years. Mrs. Thompson passed away November 29, 1947 at Austin, Minn., at the home of her daughter, Anna, with whom she had made her home since the death of her husband. She was 88 years, 7 months, and 13 days old and her death is attributed to her advanced age. Mrs. Thompson (Carrie Basness) was born March 17, 1859, the daughter of Erick and Mary Basness at Blooming Prairie, Minnesota. There she grew up, was baptized and confirmed in the Red Oak Grove Lutheran church. In November of 1878 she was united in marriage to Thomas I. Thompson and the family lived at Blooming Prairie until the fall of 1896 when they moved to a farm in Burleene township near Eagle Bend. There she lived for 27 years, until the death of her husband.Mrs. Thompson was the mother of eight children, three of whom, Carl, Ernest, and Ella, have preceded her in death. Those surviving are Mrs. Louis Hetland (Sophia), Eagle Bend, MN, Mrs. Sam Moen (Ida), Hoffman, MN, Mrs. T. H. Braaten (Anna), Austin, MN, Mrs. C. K. Jones (Marie), Long Beach, Calif., and Tilford Thompson of Eagle Bend, MN.She is also survived by 29 grandchildren, 42 great grandchildren and by one great-great grandchild.Mrs. Thompson lived a Christian life and was highly esteemed by those who knew her. Funeral services will be held at the Norwegian Lutheran Church here on Thursday December 4th. Rev. E. S. Solheim will officiate at the services and burial will be made beside her husband in Pleasant Mound cemetery.
