Nathan Dixon died Tuesday at his home after a brief illness. He was the father of Dr. W.A.Dixon and at the time of his death he was 65 years old. His illness was of short duration having extended over only 24 hours. Sunday night he retired in apparently good health but in the early morning he became ill and grew rapidly worse until death relieved him. He had suffered an attack of the grip but the immediate cause of his death was uraemic poisoning.

He was a native of Ross county Ohio where he was born on August 8,1834. Soon after his parents came to Illinois and settled near Oakland,Illinois but their deaths occured when he was 6 years old. He was taken back to Ohio and there bound to a blacksmith with whom he lived for years and acquired the blacksmiths trade. In his trade he was an expert workman. He came back to Illinois in 1875 and lived in Piatt county and Moultrie county until 1892 when he came to this city and has since made his home here.

He married to Miss Adeline Wilkinson in Vinton county Ohio. To this union nine children were born. His wife and the following children survive, E.E, I. K,S. W. and C A dixon who reside in different parts of Illinois, Dr. W.A. Dixon of this city, S. S. Dixon of Pine Bluff, Mrs. William Yantis of Effingham,Mrs.F.B.Bolin at Hammond, Miss Belle Dixon of Decatur.

The children have been notified of the fathers death and are expected to arrive in Decatur. Arrangements for the funeral will be made then.
