On January 14, 1886, Jeff Gaston married Annis Louise Feemster, a distant cousin on the Gaston side of his family, in Columbus, Mississippi. Two years later, there was one daughter born to this union, Margaret Louise, known as "Loulie." Sadly, Annis died after Loulie's birth, leaving Jeff a widower with an infant child. He and his infant daughter returned to Starkville.
On February 10, 1890, Jeff married Bettie Kennard, with whom he had two sons, John Davis and Benton Wood. Jeff and Bettie made their home outside Starkville; where Jeff was a successful farmer.
Jeff Gaston was very active member in the Presbyterian Church and served as a delegate several times at Presbytery.
Around 1920, Jeff Gaston's health warranted several operations in Memphis and Meridian, Mississippi. It was here in Meridian that Jefferson Davis Gaston departed this life on the 5th day of December 1922. His remains were brought home and buried in Odd Fellows cemetery.
