Her obituary in the Free Press Standard, Carrollton, Ohio, Thursday, June 11, 1925.

Rosalie, daughter of Joshua and Rebecca Albaugh was born April 24, 1860 and departed this life June 3, 1925, aged 65 years, one month and 19 days. On July 11, 1880 she was united in marriage to Thomas W. Shotwell. To this union were born three son: Roy, Ross and Loren, all of Carrollton, Ohio.
Early in her teens she gave herself to Jesus Christ and united with the Methodist Episcopal Church at Dellroy under the ministry of the Rev. D. A. Pierch. During her entire life Mrs. Shotwell always manifested a conscientious Christian spirit and her good works confirmed that fact. Her love for the word of God was indicative of the longings and desires of her soul, and throughout all the vissitudes of life, the 14th chapter of the Gospel according to John always gave her heart that lasting comfort and consolation relative to the Divine Will in her behalf. Even after her operation, in the presence of her near friends, she prayed and committed herself a new to her Savior and King, trusting in his precious blood for the remission of her sins and finished her devotions by singing that encouraging and helpful old hymn "The Way of the Cross Leads Home." In this faith Mrs. Shotwell lived and in this faith she died.
She was a kind and thoughtful neighbor; a loyal and faithful friend. To know her was to love her No call or need in the neighborhood or community was ever treated with indifference. Her Christian heart always responded in service such as lay within her power to render.
She leaves to mourn their loss a loving husband, three sons, Ray, Ross and Loren, all of Carrollton, Ohio. Seven grandchildren, one which she reared from infancy, Byron Shotwell, giving him a double love -- the love of a mother and also the love of a grandmother. One brother, Lafayette Albaugh of Carrollton and two sisters, Mrs. John Pearch of Waynesburg; besides a large circle of warm friends.
