Carrie Higdon

Age 80


Carrie Belle Smith Higdon, 80, of Wax, Ky, passed away April 19, 1979 at the local hospital.


She was born Jun 1, 1898 in Grayson County the daughter of Thea and Sara Ellen Wood Smith. She was married to the late Joseph E. Higdon and a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church.


Survivors include seven sons, Willard and George Higdon, both of Wax, Frank and Dewey Higdon, both of Indiana, Robert Higdon, Clarkson, Virgil Higdon, Summit and Way Higdon of Leitchfield; three daughters, Lois Alvey, Clarkson, Pearl Higdon, Indiana and Nora Higdon, Elizabethtown, one sister, Eva Alvey, Indiana and one brother, George Smith, Clarkson, 59 grandchildren, 96 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.


Services were held April 23, 1979 at St. Benedict Church by Father Carmon DeChristopher with burial in St. Benedict Cemetery. Rosary services were held April 22.
