Nancy "Jane" was the daughter of Peter Groom and Martha Ann Shoemaker. She married Lenox Fullerton on March 29, 1871 in Appanoose Co., IA. He was the son of Robert L. Fullerton and Sarah Jane Fisher. To this union ten children were born; Cora Ellen, William Henry, Harrison Edgar, Sarah Jane, Martha Ann (d. in childhood), Frances Marion (twin to Kate, died in infancy), Mary Catherine "Kate", Alice "May", Maude Pearl, and Minnie Oma "Omie".

Jane was a devout Christian her entire life. She is buried with her beloved husband Lenox, daughter Martha, son Frances, mother Martha, sister Sarah, and several other family members. She shares a tombstone with Lenox.
