Frederick News-Post - November 7, 1931

Charles E. Griffith, 82 years old, of Poolesville, former member of the Maryland House of Delegates and former president of the Board of Montgomery County Commissioners, died Thursday at the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. T. Magruder Veirs, near Rockville. Mr. Griffith had been ill for many months.

The son of the late Harry Griffith, Mr. Griffith was a native and lifelong resident of Montgomery county. In addition to his political career, Mr. Griffith was a retired farmer.

Surviving him are nine children; A. [Hempstone] Griffith, of Rockville; Howard Griffith, of Silver Spring; Mrs. Frank I. Davis, of Poolesville; Mrs. Charles Sellman, of Poolesville; Mrs. Clifton Veirs, of Rockville; Mrs. T. Magruder Veirs, of Rockville; Harry Griffith, of Washington; and Mrs. Harriet Bastable and Miss Lutie Griffith, of Baltimore.

Funeral services will be held in Rockville this afternoon at 2 o'clock at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Veirs. Burial will be in Monocacy Cemetery at Beallsville. Rev. Guy Crock and Rev. Frank Tyler will officiate.
