Wendell B. Arthur

Wendell Blaine Arthur, 37, of Shady Spring was dead on arrival Wednesday at a Beckley hospital of a self-inflicted gunshot wound according to Beckley City Police.

Born Oct. 9, 1947 in Glen White, he was a son of Russell Blaine and Marie Bragg Arthur of Shady Spring.

Mr. Arthur was a carpenter and member of United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America Local 1911 of Shady Spring.

Other survivors include two sons, Douglas Blaine and Wendell Dewayne Arthur, both of Beckley; four brothers, Willard Meadows, Dale and Robert Arthur, all of Shady Spring and Harold D. Arthur of Brunswick, Ohio; four sisters, Mrs. Franklin D, (Shirley) Crawford of Ghent, Mrs. Robert K. (Loretta) Bragg of Jumping Branch, Mrs. Donald R. (Sharon) Bragg of Prosperity, and Mrs. Jimmy D. (Debra) Bragg of Shady Spring and maternal grandmother, Bertie L. Meadows of Shady Spring.

Services will be Sunday at 2:30 at 2:30 p.m. in the Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel in Beckley with the revs Roscoe Lilly and Jimmy Hawkins officiating. Burial will be in the Goodson Cemetery at Abraham.

Friends may call today from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Pallberaers will be Jeffrey Crawford, Larry Crawford, Michael Arthur, Robert Meadows, Bob Mills, and Alan Arthur.
