Sophia Stueck was married twice. Her first husband was Johann Schmidt who was killed in action in 1865 in the Civil War. To date, no grave site found. They had at least 4 children: Maria, Carl, John, & Henry.
Her second marriage was to Johann Peter Stuempges, with whom she had 6 children: Herman, Sophia, Wilhelmina, Albert, Frederick and Fredricka.

From Der Nord Westen, 24 Jan. 1889:
Death of Mrs. John Stümpge on Mon. morning of a stroke. She was formerly of
Newton, then of Town Manitowoc near the city limits. She was 57 yrs. 10 mos. and 4
days of age, and was buried yesterday.

Her death record states she passed away from "apoplexia after typhoid fever"
