WILLIAM F. STUEMPGES

William F. Stuempges, 77, of 950 Division street, Manitowoc, a retired bridge
tender, died at Holy Family hospital Thursday afternoon, several hours after
suffering a heart attack. Mr. Stuempges was stricken as he repaired a porch at
1421 South 11th street, Manitowoc.
Funeral services will be held a First Reformed church at 2 p.m. Saturday with
Rev. Richard Schmitz officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen cemetery.
Mr. Stuempges was born in Newton in 1873 and came to Manitowoc with his parents
as a boy. He had resided in Manitowoc since. He married the former Emma
Grossheusch in 1906. Mr. Stuempges retired two years ago after serving as a
bridge tender for 24 years.
Survivors include the wife; two daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Talmadge, Manitowoc,
and Mrs. Margaret Reed, LaFayette, Ind.; a son, William, Milwaukee; a sister,
Mrs. Otto Weber, West Bend; and four grandchildren.
The body will be in state at the Pfeffer funeral home, Manitowoc, from 6 p.m.
Friday until 10 a.m. Saturday, when the casket will be moved to the church.
