George Robbin normally called "Robert", just as his father, grandfather, uncles and brothers, was a lifelong butcher. He was in business for one at 3347 Ridge avenue, Phila. in 1887 to 1889. He lived at 2221 N 27th Street, but his brother Albert and his cousin Walter Lawrence both lived at 2603 W Huntingdon in 1887. Robert probably met his future wife Anna May Moehrle in 1887 on Huntingdon Street where she and her widowed mother and brothers lived at #2633. He and Anna May were married on Thanksgiving Day, November 28, 1888, and they celebrated every year. They were married by George VanDeurs, Minister of the Gospel. George Robbin died the night before their 50th wedding anniversary.
He converted his slaughterhouse business at 2603 Huntingdon Street into rental garages for automobiles around 1920. Robert retired at age 56 according to his son Archie.
His wife Anna May and daughters Cora May and Anna May Lawrence Clowrey are all buried with him in Northwood Cemetery, Holly section Plot #78. The only cemetery stone is a sill with "G R Lawrence" written on it. No dates or other names. There used to be a cement lamb for Cora May but it has been gone since at least 1960. In the 1920's he moved his family from Philadelphia to Middletown Township in Bucks County, Pa. where he and his sons were instrumental in building the Parkland Fire Dept. firehouse in 1932.
