He was the son of the late Wilbert and Luella Bradtmiller, of New Haven, and husband of two wonderful ladies, Leona Schmidt, and later in life Dorothy Schorey, both of whom preceded him in death.
He was a US Army veteran and worked at International Harvester for 30 years before retiring at the age of 55. He loved to farm part-time, play cards, serve on the Three Rivers FCU board, as well as various church boards and mow his lawn on his riding tractor.
But above all, he loved worshiping his Lord at Suburban Bethlehem Lutheran Church where he was a member since his marriage to Leona.
He was father to Karen (Kitt) Johnson and Kay Bradtmiller; a grandfather to Nathanael and Allison Johnson; and brother to Lester (Janice) Bradtmiller and Loraine Hartmann. His son, Kenneth and grandson, Benton, also awaited him in heaven.
Melvin's service of victory will be held at 11:30am, Saturday, February 25, at Suburban Bethlehem Church, 6318, W. California Road, Fort Wayne, with calling one hour prior. Calling will also be held from 3 to 7pm, Friday, February 24, at Hockemeyer & Miller Funeral Home, 6131 St. Joe Road, Fort Wayne. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Memorial donations may be given to Suburban Bethlehem Lutheran Church or Visiting Nurse Hospice.
