Mt. Clemens. Mich., May 12. - Dr. William C. Tennant died in this city late last night after a long illness. He was born in Mt. Pleasant, Ont., May 9, 1850, coming to this city in September, 1871, and had lived here since, having occupied many positions of trust and honor, and having the esteem of the entire community. He was graduated from Trinity college, London, taking a post-graduate course at Bellevue hospital, New York city, and at the close of his study there was offered a desirable position on a man-of-war, but refused it, preferring the practice of medicine in this country.
In August, 1874, he was married to Miss Belle Van Eps, daughter of John Van Eps, one of the oldest residents of Mt. Clemens. Seven children were born to them. Three girls and one boy are still living, as are his wife and mother, the latter having lived in Mt. Clemens several years.
Dr. Tennant belonged to the common council six years and was mayor of Mt. Clemens two terms, during which time he was the means of bringing about many needed reforms.
He was also vestryman in Grace church many years, belonged to the R.A.M., Chapter No. 69, and F.&A.M. No. 6.
The funeral will take place at Grace church Thursday afternoon at 3 o'clock.

He married Ada Mabelle Van Eps 27 Aug 1874 in Macomb, Macomb, Michigan.
