Gordon J. Monroe Sr., 77, of North Braddock died Nov. 21, 2002.

He was a retired fire truck driver in North Braddock and a life member and 44-year volunteer with North Braddock Volunteer Fire Department No. 2.

During World War II, he was a paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne in the European Theater.

Mr. Monroe was a member of Wilkins Township Veterans of Foreign Wars, Disabled American Veterans and ANCIENT ORDER OF HIBERNIANS DIVISION 17 in Monroeville.

Surviving are his wife of 54 years,
Dorothy (Murphy) Monroe;
Children:
Robert Monroe of North Braddock and
James Monroe of North Versailles;
Sisters, Grace Clemente, Gladys Tongue and Peg Hamilton; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his parents James Alexander Monro and Isabella Jane (McLaren) Monro; and his son
Gordon John Monro, Jr.

Friends were received at Patrick T. Lanigan Funeral Home.
Interment with military honors was at Good Shepherd Catholic Cemetery.
