Leonard Vernon Williams, son of John and Mary Shull Williams, was born near Cuba, in Republic County, Kansas, on June 16, 1886, and departed this life at his home in Haddam December 8, 1955 at the age of 69 years, 5 months and 24 days. In his early boyhood he moved with his family to a farm near Haddam.
On February 7, 1909, he was united in marriage to Norma J. Lesher and they lived on farms near Haddam until 1936 when they moved to Haddam where he spent the remainder of his life.
He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife Norma, three sisters, Mrs. Vina Hinman of Belleville, Mrs. Alice Clark, Towanda and Mrs. Belle Hatch of Santa Anna, Cal., one brother, Clint Williams of Haddam, many nieces and nephews and a host of other relative and friends. Three brothers and three sisters preceded him in death.
Having no children of his own all nieces and nephews and neighbor children came to him for advice and council.
Funeral services were held at the Haddam Methodist church December 11 at 2:30 p.m. with the Rev. J. H. Vernon officiating. Interment was in the Haddam cemetery.
