Russell Cannon Lane, 88, of Elkins, died May 8, 1999 at Tucson, Arizona. He was born November 21, 1910 at Pettigrew, Arkansas, the son of Andrew Jackson and Martha Smith Lane. He was retired from McDonald-Douglas Aircraft Corporation and was a member of the Northeast Southern Baptist Church in Fayetteville. He has been a member of Cincinnati Lodge #102, Free and Accepted Masons for nearly fifty years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Gladys Barker Lane on June 19, 1998.

Survivors include: two sons, James Lane of Tucson, Arizona and Bobby Lane of Lake Elsinore, California; one daughter, Mrs. Joyce Stanley of Fontana, California; two brothers, Troy Lane of Homedale, Idaho and Si Lane of Brewster, Washington; three sisters, Mrs. Olive Choate and Mrs. Alta Choate, both of La Habra, California and Mrs. Trella Bryant of Rockport, Missouri; twelve grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, May 15, in the chapel fo Brashears Funeral Home with Rev. Layton Porter officiating. Interment will be in the Mount Olive Cemetery near Elkins under the direction of Brashears Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Cecil Nickell, Russell Lane, Jason Bassi, Mark Lane, David Stanley, Richard Smith, Lloyd Porter, Wayne Martin, Bill Cronk and Chris Cronk. Honorary pallbearers will be Ernie Huber, Bill Willis, Mac Robert, Frank Collins, Glen Eaton and Orville Martin.
