Anita Evelyn Phillips, 87, a resident of Mariner Health Care Center, Moon Township, Pa., formerly of Ambridge, Pa., died Wednesday, March 19, 2003. She was born Oct. 29, 1915, in Reynoldsville, a daughter of the late Grafton and Anna Roe Ward.
She was an assistant manager in the Deli Department of Kmart and former manager of Paul's Bakery, Ambridge, Pa. She attended the First United Methodist Church, Ambridge, Pa.
Preceding her in death were her husband, J. Carleton Phillips Sr.; two sisters, Betty Pieffer and Doris Kolar; and two brothers, Ralph and Bert Ward.
Surviving are a loving, devoted and caring son and daughter-in-law, Joe Phillips Jr. and his wife, Sue, of Economy, Pa.; five brothers and four sisters-in-law, Sam and Mildred Ward, of Independence, Bob Ward, Ray and Mary Ward and Carl and Janice Ward, all of Morgantown, and Jim and Helen Ward, of Economy, Pa.; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Jean Drake and Naomi and Charles Price, all of Economy, Pa.; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
There will be no public visitation. Family and friends are invited to attend a funeral service Saturday at 9 a.m. in the John Syka Funeral Home Inc., 833 Kennedy Drive, Ambridge, Pa. The Rev. Bert Domineck will officiate. Interment will follow in Camp Chapel Cemetery, Tunnelton.
