Rites Conducted In Altona Church
Gus Behrens Passes Away Wednesday After Being Ill Some Time.

Funeral rites were conducted Sunday afternoon from the home, in Altona and from Trinity Lutheran Church for Gus Behrens, 82, who passed away Wednesday morning. December 8, at 7 o'clock at his home. Rev. Theodore Wieting officiated, and committal followed in the church cemetery.

Mr. Behrens had been failing in health for about four years. He had been bedfast since July.

Gustav Herman Behrens was born in Negenborn, Hanover, Germany, July 1, 1861. He married Albertina Mohlfeld in Germany, and the couple came to this country soon afterward. in 1886.

Mr. and Mrs. Behrens lived on a farm in Coming County for many years before moving into Altona about 22 years ago.

Mr. Behrens leaves his wife, one son, Albert of Amherst, Colo,. and three daughters, Mrs. William Stuthman and Mrs. William Pflueger of near Wayne, and Mrs. Paul Hilpert of near Wisner. One daughter. Mrs. Carl Wolters, died seven years ago in January. The deceased is survived by 17 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. One of the great grandchildren, Clarence Stuthman, preceded him in death.

All the children were present for the riles.

Pallbearers were Ernest Greenwald, Herbert Bergt. Frank Roggenbach, William Lueken, William Thies and Henry Pflueger.
