Manitowoc Herald Times, Feb. 24, 1995, p. A2:4. Stanley H. Abler, age 81, of St. Nazianz, passed away Thursday morning, Feb. 23, 1995, at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center, Manitowoc. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Mon. Feb. 27, 1995, at St. Gregory’s Catholic Church, St. Nazianz. Fr. Gregory Coulthard will officiate with burial to follow in the church cemetery. He was born Oct. 22, 1913, at St. Cloud, son of the late Phillip and Clara Mihm Abler. He attended St. Cloud Schools, and was a barber in St. Nazianz for over 50 years. He married Ethel Bittner, Sept. 2, 1935, at St. Cloud. He was a member of St. Gregory’s Parish, a past member of the St. Nazianz Lions Club, the St. Nazianz Fire Department, and St. Gregory’s Choir. Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Mark and Mary, Mt. Pleasant MI, Michael and Bridget, Alexandria VA, Timothy and Kimberly, Milwaukee; three daughters and sons-in-law, Audrey and Clark Cooley, Mequon, Mary Catherine and Louis Meribela, Mishawaka IN, Clare and Richard Karr, Mequon; one brother Sylvester and Mildred Abler, St. Cloud; six sisters, Mary Alice and Jack Baus, St. Cloud, Vera and Valentine Baus, Kiel, Ruth and Bernard Calvey, Fond du Lac, Doris and Joe Eiring, Kiel, Phyllis and Cyril Ausloos, St. Cloud, Donna and Frank Ditter, St. Cloud; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by his wife in Dec. 1993, and a brother, Gordon. Friends may call at St. Gregory’s Church, Monday morning from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. Christianson-Deja Funeral Home, Valders, is serving the family.
