Mrs. West, daughter of Alonzo Rees and Ellen Brown Rees, had been a life-long resident of this area with residence principally in San Antonio, Center Point, and Kerrville.
She was an artist by profession and was well known in art circles. Her works have been displayed in art exhibitions in Santa Fe, New Mexico, the Witte Museum in San Antonio, and elsewhere.
Formerly, she was engaged in writing for Sam Wolford of the San Antonio Light.
Mrs. West was a graduate of Westmoreland College, which is now Trinity University, and later did post-graduate work at Texas Women's University in Denton.
She was a member of the Methodist Church.
Mrs. West is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Florence Elison, San Antonio; Mrs. Pauline Kingsley, New York City; a son, Frederick West, Atlanta, Georgia; two sisters, Mrs. Abigail Decherd of California; Mrs. Janie Carriger of California; two brothers, Louis Rees, Center Point, Charles Rees, Center Point; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
