George was raised in Kona, North Carolina on bounty land his father obtained after the Revolutionary War. He moved first to Illinois then to Missouri, settling in Boone County near Rocky Fork. He and his wife had nine children, six lived to adulthood. He served in the War of 1812.

No marker found. The cemetery was in very bad condition when I saw it in 1999. According to his will he and Martha were to be buried there. His son was pastor of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.
