Ruth Delana Fazenbaker, 77, of 110 First St., Westernport, passed away Tuesday at Western Maryland Regional Medical Center, Cumberland.

Born June 25, 1934, in Antioch, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Charles B. and Etta (Shreve) Alt. Two sisters, Mabel Aldridge, and Beulah Staggs, and four brothers, Dayton, Ira, Robert and Benjamin Alt, also preceded her in death.

Ruth was a 1953 graduate of Fort Ashby High School. She attended Potomac State College, Keyser, W.Va., and graduated from Tri-State Beauty Academy, Cumberland. Ruth was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Piedmont, W.Va. She was a hairdresser in the area for some 45 years working at various beauty salons before eventually retiring from Moran Manor Nursing Home. Ruth loved to read, watch old movies and play bridge. She especially enjoyed cooking meals for her family on special occasions.

She leaves behind her husband, John O. "Jack" Fazenbaker; three sons, John Fazenbaker and wife Alexa, of Westernport, Craig Fazenbaker and wife Jean, of Keyser, W.Va., and Chad Fazenbaker and wife Eunhee, of Seoul, Korea; one daughter, Julie Shahan, of Fredericksburg, Va.; grandchildren, her pride and joy, who affectionately called her "Grandma Ruth," Canon and wife Sara, Cole, Job, Rae Michelle, and Caleb Fazenbaker, and Peyton and Kennedy Shahan. She is also survived by one brother, Charles Alt Jr. and wife Pauline, of Keyser, W.Va.; two sisters, Catherine Robinson, of Elkton, Va., and Mary Neff, of Hot Springs, Va.; sisters-in-law, Tina Alt, of Keyser, W.Va., and Elaine Alt, of Baltimore; special friends, Shirley and Bill Egan, of Georgia and Nora and Joe LaRue, of Luke, and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, on Saturday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.

A funeral service will be conducted in the funeral chapel on Sunday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Bart Thompson officiating.

Interment will be in Philos Cemetery, Westernport.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Trinity United Methodist Church, or the Westernport Heritage Society.
