She was born in Beaver Falls, daughter of the late Herbert E. and Louann (Cartwright) Morgan. She married Raymond Lewis Garlick on Feb. 23, 1946, at Independent Methodist Church, Altoona, and he preceded her in death on Jan. 7, 2003.
Surviving are four children: William Ross (Suzanne Carol Miller) of Altoona, Constance Lou Ponczek of Conemaugh, Preston Douglas (Brenda Lee Hollingsworth) of Tucson, Ariz., and Brian Harry of Asheville, N.C.; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her twin sister, Helen Lafferty; and a granddaughter, Michelle Ponczek Hockenberry.
Irene was a 1942 graduate of Altoona High School. She retired from the Altoona Hospital Laundry Department after 13 years of service. She was a member of East End United Methodist Church, Altoona, and she enjoyed traveling.
At Irene's request, there will be no public viewing. A private viewing and funeral service will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will be made at Grandview Cemetery, Altoona.
