Kenneth E. Doll, Sr., 98, passed away Sunday, November 13, 2011 at his home.
He was born June 13, 1913 in Hanna to John and Mary (Cramer) Doll.
On June 19, 1937, in La Porte, he married Irene Gardner. Kenneth and Irene were devoted husband and wife for 74 years.
He is survived by his wife, Irene; four children: Kenneth (Margaret) Doll, Jr. of Union Mills, Carole Welkie of Union Mills, Deanna (Robert) Young of La Porte, and Jeanene (Rick) DuShane of Grand Haven, MI; daughter-in-law, Sharon Doll of Union Mills; 14 grandchildren; and 23 great grandchildren.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents; two children: John Doll and Mary Ellen Doll; son-in-law, Glenn Welkie; three brothers: Fred, Russell, and Homer Doll; and five sisters: Sylvia Scriven, Clara Werner, Grace Adams, Ethel Flint, and Lucille Plunkett.
Kenneth was a lifelong farmer. He lived on the same farm where he was born and farmed until he retired. In his retirement, Kenneth enjoyed gardening and carpentry. He was a lifetime member of the Prairie-Hanna Township Farm Bureau.
A funeral service was held at Wanatah Funeral Chapel and burial followed at Hanna Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to VNA Hospice or the donor's choice.
