∼Christine W (or Sophie depending on the record used) Sauermann immigrated to Baltimore, Maryland at the end of June 1841, with her husband and children from Gottingen in Lower Saxony, Germany. It appears that they had and older son, William, who had come over the year before, presumably informing them of the opportunities in the New World. They brought their six children with them; Charlotte, Louise, Christine, Carl Heinrich (Henry), Ernest, and Fredericke and settled in the Walkersville area of Maryland. As their children settled with their own families, they branched out to Kentucky, Ohio, Iowa, and Ontario in Canada.
