Leonard J. Check, 83, 7415 Twin Lakes Drive, Custer, died Thursday, Aug. 16, 2001, at the River Pines Center.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Polonia, with the Rev. Marcin Mankowski officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Visitation will be after 4 p.m. Monday at Pisarski/Dzikoski Funeral Home in Stevens Point and from 9 a.m. Tuesday at the church until the services. The Holy Name Society will combine with the general rosary at 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Mr. Check was born Aug. 13, 1918, in the town of Sharon, a son of the late Charles and Elizabeth (Kirschling) Check. He attended Twin Lake School.
He was never married.
He worked on the family farm in the town of Sharon for more than 40 years until his illness.
He was a member of the Sacred Heart Holy Name Society and St. Isadore Society. He was an usher for more than 40 years at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Survivors include one brother, Charles (Helen) Jr., Manitowoc; two sisters, Tillie Blarek, Wausau, and Bernice (Chester) Bembenek, Stevens Point; nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by five brothers and five sisters.
