Resident of City For 61 Years - Funeral Will Be Held Next Friday Afternoon
Mrs. Antonia Schendel Ceaglske, 86 years old, one of the oldest residents of Merrill, who moved to this city in 1873, sixty-one years ago, died yesterday after a short illness at her home.
Her death was attributed to old age. She was to have reached her 87th birthday on next January 29.
Mrs. Ceaglske was born in Germany in 1847, the daughter of August Schendel. She and Adolph Ceaglske, who were married in 1872, came to the United States in 1873 and settled in Waseca, Minn. They moved to Merrill the same year.
Mrs. Ceaglske was the mother of eight children, three of whom have died in the past. The survivors are Mrs. Robert Welk and H. H. Ceaglske of Merrill, Adolph and Gustav Ceaglske of Manitowoc, and Emil Ceaglske of Duluth, Minn.
Her husband died in 1907.
Mrs. Ceaglske was a life-long member of St. Stephan's Evangelical church.
The body will be taken to the home of her daughter, Mrs. Robert Welk, 1201 Jackson street. The funeral will be held Friday afternoon at 2 p.m., Rev. M. M. Schmidt officiating.
Interment will be in the family lot in the Merrill cemetery.
