Agnes Ross was the first wife of the noteworthy Gen. Thomas Kennedy, who was an early settler of Kentucky. Agnes Ross Kennedy was the daughter of Hugh Ross Sr and Sarah Stockton. Her younger sister Anne Ross married William Preston and removed from Lincoln County/ Rockcastle County, Kentucky to Cannon County, Tennessee. Agnes was the namesake of her maternal grandmother Agnes Stockton, wife of Richard Stockton of Albemarle County, VA. The Ross family left Virginia to settle in Lincoln County, Kentucky and in the area known as Paint Lick, Crab Orchard and Danville, Kentucky.
