Mrs. Vignon Addy Jones was the great-grandmother to several of my grandchildren and a very sweet lady.
Vignon Addy Jones, age 95 of Rowlett, TX, passed away March 28, 2012. She was born February 19, 1917, in Chicota, Texas, to Robert Edward and Bess (Seay) Addy. Her grandparents were Sarah A Salliers and Jasper Newton Addy.
Vignon was a lifelong Baptist who attended Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church in Sachse, Texas. She worked as an elementary school teacher until her retirement. She was loving and caring and will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Vignon is survived by her children: Vignon "Pat" Stovall and husband Benny of Rowlett, Texas, Chip Jones and wife Bev of Rowlett, Texas, Laura Elizabeth Greaves of Decatur, Texas, Josephine Jane Johnson and husband Gary of Paradise, Texas; brother: Chief Addy of Chicota, Texas; sister: Sarah Flynn of Dallas, Texas; 10 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Henry Earle Jones, parents and siblings: Stanley, Dorethea, Colia, Nell and Gene.
Funeral services were held at 1:00pm Saturday, March 31, 2012, at Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church with Rev. Phil Mercer officiating. Interment followed in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery. Pallbearers included Craig Stovall, Brad Stovall, Clay Jones, Jonathan Jones, Merlin Greaves, A.C. Greaves, Michael Davis and Caleb Greaves. The family received friends at Rest Haven Funeral Home-Rowlett Chapel Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00pm. Memorials may be made to Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church, 3015 Pleasant Valley Road, Sachse, Texas 75048.
