Chester was the second child of Nehemiah and Sarah (Goodwin) Andrews of New Hartford, Litchfield, CT. He married his first wife, Anna, about 1809 in Connecticut and moved to Bethel (Gorham) that year. Chester and Anna had five children: Lydia, Sarah Maria, Eliza Ann, Amelia and a son who died young. Anna died in 1825 and Chester married Elizabeth Stewart on 21 Aug 1826. They had one child: George J. Andrews.
On April 12, 1822 he was appointed by the State of NY as Ontario County Justice.
