Mrs. Kate Fagan Dead
The shocking news was received here early last Friday morning of the death of one of this community's most highly respected women, Mrs. Kate Fagan, wife of Michael Fagan, who has lived a half mile north of Reading for the past 30 years.Mrs. Fagan has not been well for some months past, and has gradually grown worse since her fall getting off the train here about a year ago. The deceased was at St. Margaret's hospital in Kansas City when the angel of death visited her. Mr. Fagan left here at 6:30 Friday morning in answer to a telegram that his wife was dying, but before the husband could reach her side, the beloved wife had passed away. The remains were brought to Reading Saturday and laid to rest Sunday afternoon, the last sad rites being said by Fr. Willibrord, at the Catholic church, and were followed to their last resting place in the Catholic cemetery by a large number of friends and relatives.
Mrs. Fagan was a kind and affectionate wife and mother and was universally loved and respected, and lived in this world such a life as will be rewarded in the better land.
The Recorder joins with the community in extending deep sympathy to the heart-broken husband and children.
