Services were planned for Wednesday, August 26, at 2 p.m. in the Glendo Community Church for Dana L. Spaulding, long-time resident of the Cassa community. Mr. Spaulding passed away Saturday, Aug. 22, at Platte County Memorial Hospital in Wheatland after suffering a heart attack several days earlier.
Officiating at the funeral will be the Rev. Carl Richmond of Wheatland. Burial will be at the Wheatland Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Stanley Hooley, Homer Trimble, Ivan Van Buskirk, Everett Weimer, Willard Baxter and George Collins. Honorary pallbearers include W. L. Haggerty, Jack Jones, Ivan Hooley, Gordon Wilson, Dan Brown, Clayton Harvey, Wm. Johnson, Jim Hughes, and Lyle Moffitt. Music will be by Mrs. Helen Weimer at the organ, with Mrs. Wm. Tylee soloist.
Dana L. Spaulding was born at Otego, Kansas on Feb. 15, 1894, to James Harvey and Mary E. Spaulding. On Sept. 17, 1912, he was united in marriage to Nellie M. Meyers at Atwood, Kans. The couple came to Wyoming in 1920 to homestead southeast of Cassa. Ten children were born to this couple.
In addition to his farm and ranch operation at Cassa, Mr. Spaulding worked at highway construction in the early days, and also on the railroad. He was an active member of Grange and Farm Bureau.
Survivors include his wife; sons Walter E. of Sheridan; Joseph A., Glendo; Dana L. Jr., Glendo; Hugh M., North Hollywood, Calif.; and daughters, Mrs. Bill (Elva) Collins, Glendo; Mrs. Harold (Mary Ann ) Lindeen, Anchorage, Alaska; and Mrs. Larry (June) Emerson of Casper. Also surviving are 24 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Mr. Spaulding was preceded in death by an infant son, Richard, and by sons Gene L. and Jonathan H.
