Nellie Spaulding Dies...

Services for Mrs. Nellie May Spaulding, 81, were held Friday December 1 at 2 p.m. at the Glendo Community Church. The Rev. Dan Barcus officiated, with burial in the Wheatland Cemetery.

Mrs. Spaulding died Tuesday, November 30 at the Platte County Memorial Hospital Nursing Wing.

She was born May 27, 1895 at Wilsonville, Nebraska. On September 17, 1912 she married Dana L. Spaulding. The couple came to the Glendo area in 1919 from Atwood, Kansas.

Mrs. Spaulding was a past member of the Cassa Ladies Club and was secretary treasurer of the local American Sunday School Union. She received a Gold Star Mother's Award from the American Legion Auxiliary for having four sons serving overseas during World War II.

Survivors are three sons, Walter F. of Sheridan, Joe of Glendo and Hugh of North Hollywood, Calif.; and three daughters, Mrs. Wiliam (Elva) Collins of Glendo, Mrs. Harold (Mary Ann) Landeen of Anchorage, Alaska and Mrs. Larry (June) Etherson of Casper. She is also survived by 25 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband and by four sons, Lloyd, Gene, John and Richard.

Schrader Prell Funeral Home was in charge. Pallbearers were Bob Jenkins of Wheatland, Stan Hooley, Homer Trimble, Bill Johnson, Doug Curtis and Everett Engling. Memorials have been established either to Glendo Community Church or the Yellowstone Boys Ranch in Montana.
