Charles F. Cherney, 67, of Knuell Street, Manitowoc, died Sunday morning at
Two Rivers Community Hospital.
Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at Schneider-Mittnacht Funeral
Home and 10 a.m. at Holy Innocents Catholic Church, Manitowoc. The Rev. Leo J.
Schmitt will officiate with burial in Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.
Mr. Cherney was born June 17, 1907, at Kellnersville, son of the late Charles
and Rose Zeman (Shimek) Cherney. He married Marie Ratajzcak Nov. 27, 1930, at
St. Hedwig Church, Kewaunee. They farmed in the Rockwood area from 1943 to 1967
when they moved to Manitowoc. He was employed as a stage builder at Manitowoc
Shipbuilding Inc., of Manitowoc from 1941 to 1973. He was a member of Fraternal
Order of Eagles Aerie 706 of Manitowoc, Boilermakers Union Local No. 443, Holy
Innocents Parish of Manitowoc and a former member of St. Anne Catholic Church
and Holy Name Society of Francis Creek.
Survivors include his wife, a son, Lawrence, of Manitowoc; three daughters, Mrs.
Fredrick (Carol) Jansky, of Sheboygan, Mrs. Floyd (Imogene) Weber, of Manitowoc
and Mrs. James (Patricia) Jensen, of Brillion; three brothers, Victor, of
Brillion, Joseph, of Manitowoc and Jerome, of Menchalsville; two sisters, Mrs.
Clement (Mildred) Halbach, of Appleton and Mrs. Arthur (Grace) Sutherland, of
Nashville, Tenn., and 12 grandchildren. A daughter preceded him in death.
Friends may call at Schneider-Mittnacht Funeral Home from 4 to 9 p.m. Tuesday,
where a prayer service will be at 7:30 p.m.
