Mrs. Hugo Gerharz, 78, of 717 S. 28th St., Manitowoc, died Thursday at
Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc.
Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. at Pfeffer Funeral Home and
at 10 a.m. at St. Paul Catholic Church, Manitowoc. The Rev. Duane Dionne
will officiate and burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.
Mrs. Gerharz, nee Verona Heinzen, was born April 13, 1894, in the Town of
Meeme, Manitowoc County, daughter of the late Anton and Cecelia Schuler
Heinzen. She was married to Hugo Gerharz Oct. 20, 1920, at St. Joseph
Catholic Church, Alverno. The couple celebrated its golden wedding
anniversary Oct. 20, 1970. She was a member of the Catholic Womans' Club
and St. Paul Altar Society.
Survivors include her husband; five daughters, Mrs. Francis (Mary Ann)
Henning, Mrs. Leonard (Dolores) Schweigl, Mrs. Roy (Betty Lou) Schmitt,
Mrs. Kenneth (Jean) Bushman and Mrs. Kenneth (Ruth Ann) Schmidt, of
Manitowoc; two brothers, Edward and Norbert, of Manitowoc; four sisters,
Mrs. Rose Zima, of Green Bay, Mrs. Ervin Windus, of Manitowoc, Miss Loretta
Heinzen, of Chicago and Mrs. Clarence Klingeisen, of Rt. 4, Manitowoc; 11
grandchildren and a great granddaughter.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 3 p.m. Friday where a memorial
service will be held at 7 p.m. by the Catholic Womans' Club and St. Paul
Altar Society and friends.
