Helen Northrop was born November 12, 1919 in Baxter Springs,Kansas to Willis A. & Hazel Turner and passed away peacefully April 27, 2007. She was one of eight children. Helen was preceded in death by her parents,step-mother Beatrice (Sanscoie) Pickering, three brothers, Earl Pickering, Arthur Pickering & Harvey Pickering and two sisters, JoAnne Corder and Marian Taylor-Brewer. She married Robert Northrop (deceased) December 7, 1944. She gave her gift of unconditional love to her two sons Ronald Northrop (deceased in Vietnam) and is survived by one son, Mark Northrop, Ft. Myers, Florida, her two grandchildren Kerry (Northrop) Keller, Ft. Myers, Florida and Shane Northrop, Ft. Myers, Florida and four great grandchildren, two brothers, Alfred (wife) June Pickering, Little Rock, AR and Jack (wife) Lucy, Las Vegas, NV and numerous neices and nephew. She lived in Joplin, Mo until moving to Kansas City, Missouri until moving to Sanford in 1984. Helen's life was her family and her church work (over 30 years in Nazarene Churches) serving our Lord Jesus Christ.
Helen lived her life helping others. She was a very humble and unselfish person. She never thought of herself as above anyone else and was always willing to lend a helping hand. She will be missed by many. All of us who had the privilege of knowing Helen are very blessed and our lives will never be the same.
