HOLD FUNERAL SERVICES FOR LATE MRS. ROSE LETTENBERGER
St. Nazianz—The funeral of the late Mrs. Rose Lettenberger, was held at St. Gregory's church at 10 a.m. Monday where a solemn high requiem was celebrated by the Rev. E. Duibele, S.D.S., assisted by two Salvatorian Fathers. Interment was made in the adjoining cemetery.
Mrs. Lettenberger was the widow of the late Anton Lettenberger and died suddenly on Friday morning. When relatives went to the home and did not get response to the knocks, an entrance to the home was made through a window and the body of Mrs. Lettenberger was found in her bed, life extinct.
Mrs. Lettenberger had been ailing for a long time suffering from Bright's disease and had suffered several strokes. She was born at Meeme in 1866, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Mathias Rock and spent part of her girlhood on the farm. Later she came to live with her aunt, Miss Elizabeth Hoffman here, and had made her home with her until her death.
On November 15, 1888 she was married to the late Anton Lettenberger at St. Gregory's church. The couple bought the parental Lettenberger farm, where they lived until the death of the husband. The widow then disposed of the farm, and moved to the village. Two years ago she purchased the residence of Carl Schaller and remodeled it, living there until her death. She had reached the age of sixty-one years.
Mrs. Lettenberger was a pious woman and was like by all that knew her. She was a member of the Christian Mothers Sodality, the members of the Sadality attending the funeral as a body.
The survivors are five brothers, Frank Rock and Mathias Rock, of Milwaukee; William, of Kiel, John of Sheboygan, and Peter Rock, of Meeme, on the homestead, and two sisters, Mrs. J.R. Hochfels, of Osman, and Mrs. Val Deringer of Sheboygan Falls. One sister, Mrs. J. Lindrumm, preceded her in death. Twenty-four nephews and nieces
also survive.
