MRS. WALTER L. BLUE
Mary Ethel Kells was born in Lucas county near Russell, Aug. 19, 1876, and passed to her rest at Martha's Rest Home in Chariton June 27, 1960. She was the daughter of Ezra C. and Margaret Ann Kells, who preceded her in death some years ago.
She was married Oct. 17, 1895, to Walter L. Blue of Russell, who preceded her in death Aug. 20, 1953. To this union 13 children were born: Claude W., of Council Bluffs; Mrs. Lucille Babbitt and Violet Foster, who lived with her and cared for their mother in her last illness of 3 1/2 years; Paul, Des Moines; Maurice, Hinsdale, Ill.; Lowell and Robert, Peoria, Ill.; Mae Roberts, Lucas; Avis Medland, Centerville; Ralph, Chariton; Mrs. Louise Baker, Pico, Calif.; David L., who was killed in WW II Nov. 9, 1944, and Faye Leora, who died at the age of two years.
Her life was one of beauty and service for others. Her sweet sympathy and kindness will always be remembered by her family and friends. She never complained in her illness and her patience in all situations was remarkable.
In her early years she was converted and joined the Evangelical Trinity church near Russell. After moving to Chariton she bacame a member of the Methodist church.
Her sister, Mrs. Ada Dixon, and brother, Charles Kells, preceded her in death.
Her brother, Ernest Kells of Russell, survives, also 11 children, 27 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
She will always be remembered and sadly missed by all who knew her.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 29, at 2 p.m., at the Beardsley Funeral Home, the Rev. A. E. Beals officiating. Interment was in the Russell cemetery.
