I, J. Wathen, manager of this memorial, am the great-granddaughter of Aus through his daughter, Luella Irene (Roberts) Wathen.

William Austin Roberts was the son of Powel Onbey Roberts and his 2nd wife, Lourena Agee. His mother died when he was one month old. Aus married his first wife, Mary Josephine Cain, November 23, 1898, in Seneca, Kansas. His second marriage was to Ella Bertha Magers, October 21, 1920, in Saint Joseph, Missouri.

William Roberts

William Austin Roberts, son of Powell Ombey and Lorena Roberts, was born on May 4, 1874, in Denton, Doniphan county, Ka., and died on November 14, 1950. He spent most of his life in and near Centralia On November 22, 1898 he was married to Mary Josephine Cain of Centralia and to this union seven children were born: Marie, Ruth, Frank, Margaret, John, Eileen and Ralph.

In November, 1920, he married Ella Majors of Holton and to them four children were born. Louella, Doris, Lorene and Donald, all of whom survive.

Preceding him in death were three brothers and three sisters, Jasper Claude, Granville S. of Centralia, and Ombey of Alma; Fannie Bell, Minnie McMickle of Marquette and Mrs. Mae Pruitt Wagner, Haywarden, Iowa. Surviving members of his family are Mrs. Josephine Bedker, North Platte, Nebr.; Mrs. Pearl Selby and Maude Roberts, Atchison, and John Roberts, North Platte, Nebr. A granddaughter, Melanie, died in infancy in 1947. He also leaves 33 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and a host of friends and neighbors.

Special tribute is given to William Donald for his thoughtful kindness and loyal friendship through the years, and to whom the family shall be forever grateful.

Funeral services were held at two o'clock Monday afternon in the Congregational church. Rev. Dan Tyson gave the sermon. Lloyd Riffer, accompanied by Mrs. Geo. Young, sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and "In the Garden." Casketbearers were Raymond Blair, Nelson Beard, Walter Smith, Elmer Fanning, Dan Tindle and Louis Vautravers. Burial was in the Centralia cemetery.
