Brady Houghland

Brady Houghland Jr., 55, of 2116 5th St., Rock Island, died Thursday in Lutheran Hospital. Services will be at 1p.m. Monday in Wheelan Funeral Home. The Rev. Mark A. Bayert, pastor of Central Presbyterian Church, will officiate, and burial will be in National Cemetery, Arsenal Island. Friends may call at the funeral home Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M.
Mr. Houghland was born in Pinckneyville. He married Mary Galbraith in 1939 in Pinckneyville. He later married Lila McCann in 1947, in Rock Island. She died October 13, 1957.
In recent years he had been employed on construction jobs in the quad cities and earlier had worked at the Rock Island Arsenal for 12 yrs.
He served with the army infantry during WWII.
He had been a resident. of Rock Island and East Moline since 1946.
Surviving are his father Brady Houghland Sr., Salem; a son, Jackie Dean, Pinckneyville; two daughters, Mrs. Ann Tyrrell, Chico Calif., and Mrs Fay Santowsky, Chicago; nine grandchildren, and three brothers, Merle, Pinckneyville, Neil, Rock Island, and William, Detroit Mich., and two sisters, Mrs Betty Hindy, Taylorville, Mich., and Mrs. Mary Heller, St. Charles, Mo. He was preceded in death by his mother and two brothers.
