Former Resident Here Dies in Chicago
Funeral Last Saturday
William Stack died in Chicago at 2:30 a.m., April 28 after an illness of some three years with tuberculosis. Although troubled with the disease which finally caused his death he continued at his work until a little over a year ago.
The deceased was born and reared to young manhood on a farm two miles east of El Paso where his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Stack, lived for more than thirty years. When in health he was a faithful and efficient workman, having held many positions of responsibility with the electrical workers, being foreman of a local division in Chicago for a number of years. The remains were brought to El Paso on Friday afternoon, accompanied by Mr. and Mrs B. M. Stack and other friends from Chicago and taken to the home of his sister, Mrs. John Hanifin. He was buried from St. Mary's church Saturday morning, and the remains were followed to the Catholic cemetery by a large assembly of relatives and friends.
Deceased leaves to mourn his death three sisters and four brothers as follows: Mrs. William Keenan, of Peoria; Mrs Frank Mahoney, of Denver, Col.; Mrs John Hanifin of this city; James T Stack, of Shelton, Neb.; John Stack, of Peoria; B. M. Stack of Chicago, and Martin Stack living east of this city. All were present at the funeral excepting Mrs. Mahoney and James who visited the deceased a short time before his death. The local union of which he was a member sent many testimonials of their esteem for him. There were others from out of town besides the brothers and sister at the funeral.
