GEORGE MAPLES DIES LAST WEEK

Many Attend Funeral Held at Church Sunday

After an illness of only ten days from paralysis, George Maples, early resident of this county, died at his home here last week Thursday afternoon at 5:30 o'clock.

Mr. Maples was a son of the late James and Allee (sic-Alice) Maples and was born in England December 22, 1860. When he was six years old, the family emigrated to Canada and about six years later came to this county, settling on a farm in Sevastopol. Mr. Maples was married to Miss Nora Long of Sevastopol 48 years ago last April 28 and for many years resided at Whitefish Bay, carrying on the occupation of a fisherman. The family came to live in Sturgeon Bay about 25 years ago. For twelve years, Mr. Maples was employed by Teweles & Brandeis and for the past eight years he had been janitor of the Methodist Episcopal church of which he had been a faithful member ever since he moved to this city.
The funeral was held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Methodist church with the Rev. O.C. Dittes officiating, and interment was at Bayside. Pallbeareres were six nephews of Mr. Maples, Ed. Wayne and Henry Maples and Fred, Leslie and Dewey Maples.
