MAPLES
Harvey J. Maples, 53, of Rt. 2, Manitowoc, died unexpectedly of a heart attack Thursday evening. He worked at the shipyards the first three days of the week but Thursday remained at the home on Cleveland Avenue when he became ill.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Urbanek and Schlei Funeral Home, Manitowoc. The Rev. Paul Blaufuss will officiate and cremation will follow.
He was born Aug. 10, 1902, in Sturgeon Bay, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Maples, and came to Manitowoc in 1941 to be employed at the Manitowoc Shipbuilding Inc. On March 17, 1947, he married Mrs. Mildred VandeGrift. He was a member of AFL local 443 of the Boilermakers Union.
Surviving are his wife; daughter, Norma Mae, and two sons, George and Larry, of Milwaukee; brother, Reuben of Oconomowoc; two sisters, Mrs. Mel Peterson and Mrs. Alice Peterson of Sturgeon Bay; and four grandchildren.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 6 p.m. Saturday.
