Leo J. McKernnan, a retired Central Railroad of Pennsylvania locomotive engineer, died Saturday morning at his home, 24 Mary Street, Ashley.
Retired in 1947 when his health failed, Mr. MeKerman had been ill since with a heart ailment. His condition became critical during the past five days.
Mr. McKernan was a brother of Miss Mary McKernan, executive secretary of Wyoming Valley Tuberculosis Society. He was a member of St. Leo's Church, the Holy Name Society and the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers.
Surviving are his wife, Elizabeth and son, Richard, at home; son, John, of Wilkes-Barre; daughter, Mrs. Edison Carey, Schenectady, N. Y.; also by four grandchildren, three sisters, Miss Mary McKernan and Mrs. Thomas Nealis, both of Ashley; Mrs. Lester Smith, Plainfield, N. J.; brother, Philip McKernan, Lee Park, and an aunt, Miss Helen McKernan, Philadelphia.
Funeral will be held from the home Tuesday at 9 with requiem mass at 9:30 in St. Leo's Church. Interment in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Township. Arrangements by Lehman.
