A college basketball player, Norman Rider Holman was name as All-Conference MVP and was inducted into the Ricks College Athletic Hall of Fame. He taught and coached football, basketball, baseball, track and golf in the Madison School District for 34 years. His teams won several district championships, a state championship and was awarded several sportsmanship awards. The first recipient of the Madison School District "People Make the Difference" award, Norm was a caretaker for the Rexburg Boat Club for 20 years. An active members of the LDS, he attended Sugar City High, Ricks Academy and Utah State University in Logan. On August 17, 1938, he married Ella Lora Hadlock. Survived by his wife, Lora Holamn; children: N. Brent (Martha Ann) Holman, Robert H. Holman, JoAnn (Steven) Day, Janet (Paul) Beesley, Rohn E. (Valerie) Holman, and Shauna Holman; siblings, Marie Widdison, Leora Dutson, Bertella Charon, John (Selma) Holman, Faye (Melvin) Schwendiman, Tedd (Bonnie) Holman and Ruth (Reed) Prestgard; a sister-in-law, Joy Holman; 16 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. Norman, 90, died at the Good Samaritan Care Center in Idaho Falls of Natural Causes. Born in Salem, Idaho, a son of Albert Loader and Mary Rider Holman, he was preceding in death was his parents; four brothers and a sister.
