She was born July 28, 1921, in Idmon, Idaho, to Albert and Mary Holman. Faye was the 10th of 13 children.
She married her high school sweetheart, Melvin Schwendiman, on Sept. 12, 1940, in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. They celebrated their 70th anniversary just last week.
Our mother loved singing, camping, Scouting and sports. For most of her adult life, 50 years, she participated in a singing sextet, sang duets with her husband and was in the ward choir of which she was the director for many years. She always worked alongside Dad on the farm as well as being a wonderful homemaker. Mom was a great cook and made a mean potato salad. She was devoted to us children and grandchildren and supported us in all that we did. Our accomplishments were her accomplishments.
Mom held many church callings, including Guide Patrol leader for numerous years, Mutual and Relief Society President. From 1984 to 1986, she and Dad served a full-time LDS mission in Nauvoo, Ill. It was the culmination of a life of church service. She also enjoyed serving and participating in temple work.
She is survived by her husband, Melvin; daughters Deon Stoddard (Richard) of Rexburg and Debbie Beattie (Blaik) of Burton; son, Randall (Sherie) of Rexburg; seven grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and four siblings, Leora Dutson, Bertella Charon, John (Jack) and Tedd.
Mom was preceded in death by her parents; eight siblings; son, Scott; grandson Brian Hymas; and a great-granddaughter, Ashley Faye Hillman.
