Vigil services for Herman P. Acker, 72, of Dimmitt, were held Tuesday in Foskey Funeral Home in Dimmitt.

Mass was celebrated Wednesday morning at Holy Family Catholic Church in Nazareth with Rev. Neal Dee, pastor, officiating.

Burial followed in Westlawn Memorial Park in Dimmitt under direction of Foskey Funeral Home.

Mr. Acker died at 1 p.m. Sunday in his home.

He was born in Nazareth and had been a lifelong resident of Castro County. He moved to Dimmitt in 1947.

He married Rosa Aconfora on Oct. 29, 1946, in Pompei Italy. He was a farmer and a US Army veteran of World War II. He was a catholic and a charter member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 8056.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Arnold of Argyle; a daughter, Alice Ellisor of Huntsville; five sisters, Clara Kleman of Amarillo, Emma Moser of Summerfield, Doris Britten of Groom, Margie Gallagher of Olton and Phyllis Podzemny of Sudan, N.M.; three brothers, David and Dennis, both of Amarillo and Tony of Nazareth; four grandchildren; and two step grandchildren.
