SEDAN, N.M. - Phyllis Marie Podzemny, 73, died Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2008, in Amarillo, Texas.
Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. CST today in St. Mary's Catholic Church in Texline, Texas. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. CST Saturday in St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Dalhart, Texas, with the Rev. Scott L. Raef as celebrant. Burial will be in Texline Cemetery by Hass Funeral Directors of Clayton.
Mrs. Podzemny was born Jan. 17, 1935, to Philip Acker and Gertrude Behrens Acker in Nazareth, Texas. She married Eugene Podzemny on Oct. 16, 1954, in Nazareth.
Survivors include her husband; three daughters, Beverly Reeser and Karla Jesko, both of Sedan, and Jana Genzel of Washington, Okla.; five sons, Jeff Podzemny of Ashland, Kan., Randy Podzemny and Raymond Podzemny, both of Sedan, Mark Podzemny of Wilsall, Mont., and Doug Podzemny of Edgewood; 27 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Margaret Gallagher of Olton, Texas, and Doris Britten of Groom, Texas; and two brothers, David Acker of Corpus Christi, Texas, and Denis Acker of Amarillo, Texas.
The family suggests memorials be to St. Mary's Catholic Church, P.O. Box 362, Texline, TX 79087-0362; or to the Sedan Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 37 Sedan, NM 88436.
