Margaret Gallagher, 83, of Olton, died Tuesday, September 21, 2010 in Olton. Services will be 10:00 A.M., Saturday, September 25, 2010, at St. Peter's Catholic Church with Fr. John Smith officiating.

Mrs. Gallagher was born October 29, 1926 in Nazareth to Phillip and Gertrude Barron Acker. She married James Gallagher on April 20, 1947 in Nazareth. In 1953, she moved to Olton from Earth and was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church. She worked for Olton ISD in the cafeteria for 20 years, retiring in 1982.

Margaret was involved in all aspects of the community. She was a charter member of the Runningwater Draw Care Center Auxillary Board, serving as president and vice-president. She was a member of the Olton Area Senior Citizens, and served on the Friends of the Olton Library and Sandcrawl Museum board. She delivered meals on wheels and was named Citizen Through the Years in 1998. She was also involved in various organizations in the church including being an extraordinary minister of the Eucharist and lector.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Gallagher in 1988, three brothers and three sisters.

Survivors include four sons, Jerry Gallagher and his wife, Cynthia of Midland, Bob Gallagher and his wife, Pam of Rio Vista, Kenny Gallagher and his wife, Sandra of Cleburne, and Gene Gallagher and his wife, Lynna of Cleburne, two daughters, Laurie Lindsey and her husband, Allen of Midland, and Evelyn Diaz and her husband, Santos of Olton, two brothers, Dave Acker of Corpus Christie, and Den Acker of Amarillo, and a sister, Doris Britton of Groom. She was blessed with 18 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.
