Bryant was the son of Isaac "Ike" and Nursie Dennis Lewis. A master fiddler, Bryant also played the mouth harp. He married "Dollie" Nancy Catherine Bullok on Oct. 1, 1901. He was a lifelong farmer. Their children were Cora Bells Lewis born Jan. 15, 1906 and married Joseph C. Byrd on OCt. 20, 1948; Lester Tell Lewis born May 31, 1908 and who never married; Bessie Dell Lewis born Aug. 29, 1910 and married Lucius Ethridge; Lillie Pearl Lewis born April 27, 1913 and who married Dock Brown; Ethel Lena Lewis born Jan. 14, 1916 and died Nov. 8, 1923; Charlie Nixon Lewis born march 23, 1918 and married Lucille Wiley on Dec. 1, 1941; Nancy Elizabeth Lewis born Sep. 6, 1920 and married Ernest K. White on March 11, 1941. Bryant burned in a fire while pouring kerosene into his would heater which exploded and killed him. Dollie died Jan. 3, 1953 and is buried next to him.
